Academisch Ziekenhuis Groningen - The University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) was established in 2005 as a joint activity of the University of Groningen and the Academic Hospital Groningen (AZG). At present, the UMCG is one of the largest hospitals in the Netherlands and the largest employer in the Northern Netherlands. More than 10,000 employees provide patient care, are involved in medical education and perform cutting-edge scientific research.
Our Division of Vascular Surgery (Department of Surgery) consists of 7 consultant vascular surgeons, a nurse practitioner, and trainees, performing operations on a daily basis and focusing on complex endovascular procedures, and carotid and femoro-popliteal interventions, both for aneurismal and occlusive disease. We have been hosting many work-shops on (basic and complex) endovascular cases through the years, supervised a number of PhD students, and have published the results of both experimental and clinical work in many high ranked Q1 scientific journals.
